Redeemed

Romans 5:10 (NLT)  For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.

Do you get what this verse is really saying?  Because of the death of Jesus, you are restored to a relationship with God.  This is great news. This is the GOSPEL!

I recently asked a few people what the Gospel meant to them.  I was honestly shocked to see how familiar people have become with the greatest news we have ever received.  As Christians, we have come to a point where that which happened on the cross of Jesus has become more of a story and a familiar history to us, instead of it being “the power of God” (Rom 1:16) that brings salvation.

Jesus explained it well in Luke 6 when He said that your life will be like a house built on sand if you give attention to all kinds of revelation from Scripture, yet the foundation is not strong on the essentials.  I have seen many people who once had a very impressive faith life, but who’s faith got shipwrecked during intensely dramatic life struggles.

Because their faith was built upon revelations about things that are good, but not essential, they suddenly lost sight of the important things in life.  They lost sight of the person of Jesus and who He was to them.

If you can teach about prophecy and authority, the gifts of the Spirit, the kings of the Bible, financial wealth, or any other biblical truth, but you are not well acquainted with and truly live out the truth of the Gospel, your beautiful house of knowledge built on sand will eventually be flattened by a storm of life.  All revelation from Scripture has to be founded upon the life, death, resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ.

When the Gospel is the foundation, then all other truths will be able to stand the test of trials.

Do you fully understand what it means to be a Christian?

WE HAVE BEEN RESTORED!

Take a few moments and meditate on this:

THE GOSPEL IS THE GOOD NEWS THAT GOD BECAME MAN IN JESUS CHRIST.  HE LIVED THE LIFE WE SHOULD HAVE LIVED AND DIED THE DEATH WE SHOULD HAVE DIED - IN OUR PLACE.  THREE DAYS LATER HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD, PROVING HE IS THE SON OF GOD AND OFFERING THE GIFT OF SALVATION AND FORGIVENESS OF SINS TO ANYONE WHO REPENTS AND BELIEVES IN HIM.

Thank you Jesus.
